Death (USA)

Salah satu band yang mempelopori aliran musik Deathmetal adalah Grup band " Death " yang dibentuk pada 1983 di Florida-Amerika ( pada saat itu masih bernama Mantas) band ini didirikan oleh Vokalis sekaligus Gitaris Chuck Schuldiner,banyak penulis Biografi musik metal menyebut Chuck Schuldiner sebagai " Bapak Death Metal ",Grup Band Mantas pertama kali merelease Demo pada 1983 yang bertitel " Death by Metal ",setelah itu Band diganti dengan nama Death,dilanjutkan dengan lagu Demo berikut berjudul Reign of Terror pada 1984 dengan anggota band Chuck Schuldiner pada Vokal dan Gitar,Barney Lee pada Drum,dan Rick Rozz pada gitar 2.

Schuldiner telah mendesign logo Death dan bermacam-macam variasinya selama berkarier bersama bandnya. Pada tahun 1991 sebelum keluarnya album Human, ia membersihkan logo yang berbelit-belit dan logo "T" dari simbol salib terbalik menjadi huruf "T" biasa, satu alasannya adalah menghilangkan implikasi suatu agama(arsip ini diambil dari www.wikipedia.org). Logo kembali berubah, di antaranya pada album Symbolic dan The Sound of Perseverance, menghilangkan tengkorak berkerudung diatas huruf "H".

Band ini dibubarkan setelah vokalis Chuck Schuldiner meninggal pada 2001.
